Forest Day September 27, 2021

After reading the story Balancing Act many were inspired to balance on logs and build teeter totters.

A few kept busy by finding mushrooms, a wooly bear caterpillar, and worms. Other pretended to a princess, working in a kitchen, or playing baby kangaroos. A couple noticed the sticky sap coming from a tree and explored it with a stick.

Forest Day September 20, 2021

We enjoyed our warm, sunny day in the forest. We found deer tracks on the path in the morning and saw a leaf floating on an inch worm thread in the afternoon.

We were busy using our bodies and our imagination. In the morning there were kitties in a pet store, kitties in homes, umbrellas, bridges, and a camp fire. In the afternoon there was a food store that sold bacon and pizza, stick snakes, and bones they put together to make fossils.

We found bugs, caterpillars, and a Daddy long legs. In the afternoon many children watched the caterpillar until it uncurled and crawled under the table top. They also found leaves for it to eat.

In the morning they found a board with a hole in it and made their own game of finding which pinecones fit through and which were too big. Then they made a circle of logs and worked on filling it with pinecones that fit through the hole.
