May 15 Forest Day

The weather was warm and the birds were singing all day while we headed out to the forest again.

In the PM Miss Nogee's kindergartners stopped by to show us a snail and some tadpoles they found by the pond.

Here are some highlights and the children's description of what they were up to:

 "Mrs. Bender it's a trimmer. "

 "I'm in my house"

"I think it is candy"
--(it was not and no one tasted it, but we think it is some kind of mushroom)

"I'm playing Mine Craft. The creepers can get you and
I have TNT to switch on top of it and it blows up."

"Mrs. Bender, I am taller than you."

"Listen to what this sounds like."
(scrapes bark against bark)

Mrs. Hruby holding a grub she found.

 "I can touch it."
Mrs. Hruby asked"Would you like to hold it"
Replied, "No"
 "Tickley"

 "He's tickley and that hurts."

"Power up the ink machine--the ink flooded on you!"

"Playing family with Montana"

 "The ink got me stuck"

"I'm climbing up to the top roof. Then boom, I fell down."
(repeated the climb three times)

 "Hey look at my ladder"

(They were discussing how to make a magic trick)

 "He's crawling"
( Montana is the dad, Svea is the mom, and Emily, Amylea, and Landon are the babies.)

 "Wow three babies...1, 2, 3"

(The babies escaped and crawled away).

 (Relocating/dismantling the house)

"I'm staying here all day. It's like the Giving Tree.
Like when the little boy was old and he needed a rest."

"I'm cleaning so it can be safe cause it is on now."

"Campfire--We have to make it safe."

 " A bridge"

 "We're building it very safe."

 (More work on the campfire)

(Discussion about what to do next--keep building, stop, or change it.)

 "Kitty"
"We got a campfire. We have to look out for monsters and bobcats."

"Looks like we can walk down."

(Taking turns walking on the bridge.)

 (More turn taking)

 (Discussing changes)

 (Tired)

 "What do worms eat?"

 (Working on their house)

"I'm trying to fix this tree."

"Gotta get all the sawdust out."

"I'm going to dump it someplace so I can dig more."

(Digging)

 "Dancing with my momma"

 (More dance moves)

 "I'm cutting the pizza."

"My torch to burn stuff"

It is hard to believe, but next Monday is our last forest day of the school year. Also next Tuesday evening, May 23rd, is the Open House in the forest. Information sheets were sent home about a week ago. If you didn't receive one or have questions please contact me.
