Forest Day December 11, 2023

Today was a little chillier than the last few times. We were busy with our usual running, balancing, and imagining but we made a few new discoveries too. In the morning one child noticed if she tapped on different items (the big rock and a large pine tree) with a handle they made different sounds. Soon others joined her and tried other objects--boards and sticks--and discovered those made different sounds/pitches too. A game of going under the human bridge morphed into piggy back rides. In the afternoon a couple of determined kiddos wanted to sled down hill. The light dusting of snow wasn't enough so they figured out if someone pushed the board the other could get a ride.

Here is a glimpse at our day.

One standard addressed today was: Language Devolopment and Communication--Listening and Understanding: A.EL.1 Derives meaning through listening to communications of others and sounds in the environment.
