We spent time digging.
We built a campfire, a house, and a bridge.
We used our imaginations--cooking pumpkin pie, roasting marshmallows, acting out Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and hunting tigers.
With Thanksgiving coming up, I asked each child something they liked about or were thankful for about the forest time, Here are their responses:
Will--"Ryan and Emma and hunting with them."
Emma S.--"I like to make a bow and arrow."
Eliana--"Playing and digging to make some pie."
Mason--"I am thankful of me because I'm smart so I can think."
Jocelyn--"Dig...because I want to make something like a flower from a seed."
Brynn--"I like playing with my momma."
Eve--"Getting people shovels so they can dig and put pumpkins somewhere cause Brynn is my friend."
Clay--"I like building a campfire."
Angel--"Digging an playing monsters."
Audri--"The birds are singing and the pumpkins are here and the sticks are here and the shovels are here."
Easton--"I like to poke the pumpkin."
Kyra--"I like to play house."
Kjersten--"Playing with trees and those little log things and a house and a fire."
Scotlyn--"Drawing a picture with the leaves."
Emma D.--"Digging"

Next week we will explore around town and not be in the forest during gun deer season.
