January 15 Project Wild Child Inside Edition

Today we stayed at school instead of heading out to the forest. Last night we had to make the decision based on the weather forecast if we should stay or if we should go--yes we were second guessing ourselves today but the bus company and families need to know what the plan is. So we were inside, but we still had the chance to play, explore, and experiment.

In the AM, Miss Nogee's kindergartners joined us in our room to play with the dress-up clothes, build with Duplos, create in the art center, experiment with some new loose building parts, and explore the noodles in the sensory table. The was a major veterinary clinic that developed when some Early Learners used the keyboards as defibrillators to get the Duplo animals "hearts beating and the animals breathing"--then they could be returned to the Duplo area.

In the PM, we first heard the story Snow Soup and we made our own--some children even asked for thirds :) Mr. Jared brought his kindergartners and we again had the opportunity to meet new friends, as well as,  play with the dress-up clothes, build with Duplos, create in the art center, experiment with some new loose building parts, and explore the noodles in the sensory table. Many chairs were set up and there were songs and dancing--I believe it was Early Learning the Musical.

Both groups did enjoy time outside in the snow too.

Next week we are planning to be back in the forest.

One standard addressed today was:
Creativity and Imagination
B. EL. 2 Expresses self creatively through music, movement, and art.
