Forest Day May 7, 2018

What a beautiful day to be busy in the forest! Look at all we did!

 Building
Using his "nail gun to hook it together"
Using a stick to measure--1 stick length
 2 stick lengths
 3 stick lengths
 More nailing
Building an ant house with a swimming pool again this week
 Digging
Adding more to the building design
Making "a deer play house so they can play in the forest"
Used dirt and water to paint her face so she could be the Black Panther
Using the antler to show where some sap is coming out--smelled it and it reminded him of Christmas trees
 Digging and talking
Deer play ground--on the left is for grown deer so they can sit and watch and the middle and right side are for the babies to play on
Noticed and touched soft, fuzzy, green moss
 Balancing
Rearranging the building/ experimenting with ideas
 Balancing
 Noticing a group of ants
Catching ants so they could crawl on them
Watching an ant crawl on her hand
Deeply interested in the ants and deciding what to do
Many ants were relocated to the ant house and swimming pool about 30 feet from their original home.
Leaning board on the tree and using a rock as a weight to hold it in place
Adding a short board under the long board "to make it stay up better"
 Walking up the ramp
Relocating ant to the "ant house"
Rolled the log over by the tree so he could stand on it to reach the v shaped stick higher up in the tree
 Playing her "video game"
Putting leaves (marshmallows) on sticks to roast by their campfire
 Still engaged in the ants
Loved watching the ant crawl over her hand, wrist, and up her sleeve
Using the V stick placed in the tree to make announcements
Working in Miss Nogee's room to redesign a fort
 Sorting the logs
Team work to place the logs
 Designed and played the drums
Working to tie string on the tree
 Drum concert
Liked his classmates idea and made drums too
Interesting creatures found in the pond living on the wet stick
They were cler like jello and about 1" to 1 1/2" long--later research and Mrs. Hruby said they are snail eggs
Mixing in a bucket of water
 Water and mud play
 Noticed violet growing
 Balancing and building
Playing Bendy and the Ink Machine
 Digging
Balancing
Walking up the ramp
 Walking down the ramp
 Making cake
 Walking down the ramp
Giving her feet a breather and a quick scratch and than putting her own boots back on
 Mixing a cake
Creating a mixture with water, dirt, pine needles, and other found materials
Scooping, dumping, and stirring a water mixture in the bucket
 Lifting and pouring
A few classmates found carrots thrown out from kindergartens lunch and added them to the mixture
Eating the "pizza"..."I broke it off that log over there"
 A pile of "kitties" sleeping
 Whittling
Problem-solving and communicating about how to tip buckets to pour some of the mixture into another when one was too heavy to lift
 "Kitties" in their nest
Taking "sandwiches" to the kitties (There was p b & j, cheese, and tuna)
Talking and building an ant home
Relaxing in their fort

One standard addressed today was:
