Forest Day April 22, 2019

What a great way to spend Earth Day! We had a great time exploring and learning together in the forest. We even found an antler shed on the way down the path in the morning!

We worked together to carry a basket of bottles of water down to our classroom to experiment with. Some loved watching it squirt out and others made mud. Many learned that once it is gone you can't get it back. So next time we might plan what we want to do or how we can make it last longer.

 Shaking it

We played using our imaginations and moving our bodies.

Making a praying mantis out of a stick

Building a playground with electricity and swings

 Finding pine seeds in cones

 The electricity station
Swings and other play ground equipment area
Checking an X marks the spot for treasure

We had some time at the fire pit. We could try roasting string cheese or eating just it cold. It was so YUMMY with all its melting goodness.

In the afternoon we did get a few minutes by the pond. We saw a few tadpoles swimming but they were too quick for us today. We did find a few other creatures though.

One standard addressed today was:
Mathematical Thinking--B. EL. 1 Demonstrates an understanding of numbers and counting.
Number 74 made of sticks to mark the address of the sheep pen
