Forest Day Sept 30, 2019

We had a great day learning and playing in the forest. We were busy finding critters, climbing, and creating. We found slugs, worms, a daddy long legs spider, a very tiny snail, a millipede, a grasshopper, and a walking stick. There were some hungry mosquitoes out there too.

We built camp fire pits, jaguar cages, teeter totters, houses, and balance beams. Sometimes we seemed to read each other's minds and sometimes we had to practice listening to others and using words to share our ideas.

We used our imaginations too.

A string was found and some children were comparing how big around various trees were. There was also talk about which sticks were longer/shorter and thin/thick.

In the morning NBC 15 came out to see what Project Wild Child was all about. It will air either tomorrow (Tuesday) night or next Tuesday night. I will let everyone know when I know.

One standard addressed today was:
Mathematical Thinking--B. EL. 5 Understands the concept of measurement.
