First Forest Trip 2019-20 school year Sept 23

We have been waiting for a couple weeks to get out to the forest for the first time and today was the day. Some were extra excited because it was there first bus ride too.

We walked down the path to our classroom. We read the story Jo MacDonald Hiked in the Woods and listened to what sounds we could hear in the forest. We practiced finding our classroom boundaries--the trees with orange ribbons.

We had lots of time to play and run and build and balance and push logs and sing and explain our ideas and so much more. Here is what they remember in their own words:
Aubrey--"Me and Elena built on the rock and the tree"
Elena--"Got poked by the thorns"
Freya--"I helped carry all the heavy things"
Kalleb--"I played campfire"
Mena--"I had the sticks and build a house by that log"
Sammy--"I played jaguars in the cage"
Tristan--"I builded a park"
Gabe L--"Running and I slipped on a piece of wood"
Gabe K--"I building"
Easton--"I builded a pit, a fire pit"
Chayse--"I built a fire pit with him" (pointed to Easton)
Ellie--"I build my house"
Brooke--"I pretend to be a superhero"
Nora--"I forgot..I pretend to be a superhero"
Ransom--"I builded a fire pit"
Henry--"I played with Ransom and Easton and Galen"
Galen--"I helped him (Henry) collect wood and make a fire and we make hot dogs"
Emmalyn--"I played"

We found a few creatures too. In the morning there was a frog at school before we got on the bus and few children saw one at the forest. In the afternoon there was a slug that received sooo much attention.

We are looking forward to doing it all again next week.
