Our first full forest day for this year was awesome. We had temps climbing all day up into the 60s, the sun was shining, and the breeze was light. We found a couple creatures--a larvae and a June bug--who got a lot of love including a house/nest and was carried everywhere. The children from the two class sections mixed and played well introducing themselves if they didn't know someone's name. We roasted cheese in the morning around the campfire. They did very well waiting their turn--we can only fit so many near the fire at a time. There was more digging, balancing, building, and imagining. One big task they worked on was moving the large sticks and some logs to the picnic table. First it was a fort and later it was a Zombie Ride (rollercoaster). We are tired but looking forward to next week. Here is a glimpse of our day:
