We filled our day with building, balancing, and bugs. A couple children made a balance beam of stumps and soon about half the class was participating. A couple children went to get more stumps to make it longer. The teamwork and negotiations of where and how to add them in was great.
A Junebug was found while digging. They settled on "Bella" as its name and then they built a house and entertainment area for it.
A stinkbug was another child's buddy for at least a half an hour.
The digging area was busy too--one hole was narrow but about 3 feet deep. The sand from that hole was wet and others shaped and patted it. Some others took some sand to the big rock and used it there.
Over the campfire we made spaghetti noodles and sauce. They devoured it.
