April 17 Forest Day

We enjoyed the warmer weather this week. We were busy making observations & discoveries. We spent much of our time using teamwork. Here are some highlights.

Trees--In the morning we heard a loud crack and crash. We investigated to find one of the trees by the pond area had tipped over all on its own. Miss Nogee's class had been in the area and said no one did anything to the tree.

In the afternoon a few children really wanted to get a dead tree to fall over. They chopped, dug around it, and pushed. Twenty minutes later it was still standing. Well there is always next week.

Tables--In the morning children used the table to make bridges and pretended boats would come through.

In the afternoon, the table was a train until it collapsed. The children used communication to express their desire to "fix" it and came up with ideas of what to do. They used lots of teamwork to push logs and lift it. They tried multiple ways to prop it up.

Creatures--In the morning we found slugs and worms.

In the afternoon we found a frog.

We also did some digging and pretending.

One standard addressed today was:
Curiosity, Engagement, and Persistence
A.EL. 2 Engages in meaningful learning through attempting, repeating, experimenting, refining, and elaborating on experiences and activities.
