Feb 19, 2018 Forest and Park Day

Today was a little different because AM and PM sections went to different spaces to play and explore. In the morning we were in the forest as usual, but with the anticipated ice storm (that thankfully didn't happen during our day) we stayed in town just in case we had to head home early.
AM class--last week I got whole PM class

The morning class was busy cooking, playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, experimenting with ways to melt ice, using tools for digging and cutting, asking peers to bury them in snow, and discussing what it was and what to do with the animal scat they found.

"We should plant it to grow a beanstalk"
Some of the bunny scat was buried, some was "planted", and some was left visible so the kindergartners could see it
"Hey guys bury us with the snow"
 "Me too" "And me"
"Hey is anybody going to help me bury these guys?"
Lots of giggles when the snow landed on them and they would shake it off
 Taking turns with the shovel

 The Turtles are still busy
 Giving directions
Final touches on planting the bunny scat to grow a bean stalk

The afternoon class walked to the park and found many puddles on the way there and back. In the park they were busy sliding, swinging, building snowmen, socializing with the kindergartners, and pretending to sell ice cream. When we got back to school we had snack and changed out of our wet things before heading home.
