Forest Day Oct 22, 2018

What a fabulous fall day to be in the forest. It was a bit chilly in the early morning but soon warmed up and reached the low 60s with the sun shining all day. Many children noticed their shadows or shadows of the trees.

It was a great day to use our imaginations!
Worm house--the pine cones are the couches
 Building bridges
 Writing on the tree
 Making salad
One log is "The energy power place", another is a place to build a nest, and one is for resting
 Bow and arrow
Using one stick to pound in another--made his own tools
 Salad
 In his deer stand
Making cookies--with a stick for a rolling pin
 The antlers are married.
 More cooking
Digging for treasure and making homes for witches and then the big bad wolf blew them down
 Digging for treasure
 More homes
 Making a campfire
Cooking hot dogs on a stick
 Crossbow
More cooking

We were busy with our bodies too--digging, jumping, balancing, running, climbing, etc...
In the morning some jumped off the rock while others marked where they landed.

 Trying to move the rock
 Determined to move the rock

Mrs. Hruby found another snake but this one did not want to be held so we let it go right away.

One standard addressed today was:
Mathematical Thinking--B. EL. 5 Understands the concept of measurement.
