Forest Day Oct 1 2018

Our first day in the forest this year was wet yet wonderful. The in AM it was just a mist but by PM the raindrops were falling on our heads. We walked down the trail to find our classroom. We played a game to learn where the boundaries are. One child thought the orange ribbons around the trees made them look like Ninjas.

In the morning we found at least three different kinds of worms--the big earth worms were the most popular to hold although many enjoyed the smaller reddish ones.

We balanced on logs and sticks.

We jumped and slid off the rock.

We practiced looking out for each other while we found sticks of all sizes.

We had fun with our friends and found other treasures like mushrooms and an antler.

In the afternoon, one child noticed the storage shed but was sure it was "a spooky house" and was sure they saw "some green eyes looking out". Well when we saw a flash of lightning in the sky we all went inside and discovered it really is a storage shed and no one lives in it. We ate snack while we waited to be sure there was no more lightning before we headed back up the hill to the bus.

One standard addressed today was:
