Another awesome day to be in the forest--it was getting a little warm by the end of the afternoon. We were busy using our whole bodies--moving logs, carrying sticks, running, crawling, jumping, balancing. We heard birds and saw a few bugs--dried cicada, ants, centipede, and a few mosquitos. We had some drumming in the morning and a violin player in the afternoon. The morning group was more into building--they worked on a house, made a ring of rocks for a fox, piled sticks for a fire. The afternoon group was busy running and chasing. Large sticks are popular with both groups.
Here is a glimpse at our day:
Comparing the heights of their sticks
Found a bone
Empty cicada shells
Balancing
Teeter Totter
Taking care of their kitty
Making a place for a fox to sleep
Playing the violin
One standard addressed today was: Health and Physical Development--Motor Development: B.EL.1a Moves with strength, control, balance, coordination, locomotion, and endurance. Purpose and Coordination
