Forest Day September 23, 2024

This was the first morning we could see our breath in the forest. It soon warmed up and coats were coming off. In the morning they were busy acting out the story we read, Apple Trouble, where little hedgehog gets an apple stuck in her prickles; building houses, digging in a "sink hole", climbing, and balancing on a balance beam created after a teeter totter was abandoned. In the afternoon there was a LOT of running for about 20-25 minutes then they settled into chopping on branches, bushes, and trees and digging in a hole. Some in the afternoon had a house on the picnic table and visitors would "ring" their doorbell. One was grandpa who came to watch the Packer game.

Here is a glimpse at our day:

Noticed a white piece in the ground and dug it out to find a bone

                                                         Hedgehog with apple in prickles

                                                                Pet kitty and a campfire

Counting for a game of hide n seek

Discovered a cicada shell and the soft moss on the tree trunk

We heard a plane fly over

One standard addressed today was: Approaches to Learning--Curiosity, Engagment, and Persistence: A.EL. 2 Engages in meaningful learning through attempting, repeating, experimenting, refining, and elaborating on experiences and activities.
