Forest Day April 17


The forest was a magical winter wonderland when we arrived. Snow came up to the tops of most boots and there were so many tracks along the path as we headed down. We also found a fallen tree limb near the path and there were a variety of speculations of what happened--"a strange guy cut it down", "a buffalo pushed it over", "the Big Bad Wold blew it down", "a beaver get it down", and "wind blew on it".

After reading The Gruffalo's Child, we joined Miss Nogee's class and shared our classroom and hers. Here are some of the highlights:

 Discovering they could make it "snow" by shaking the trees

 Excited to explore in Miss Nogee's room
 Helping clear the fire pit area

 "Peeling" a tree
 Adding water to last week's ashes to make a paint
 Crumpling paper and tearing cardboard to start the fire

 After rolling it about 50 feet he used it to climb up on the stump

At snack time we tried roasting string cheese over the campfire--SO GOOD!!!
