We had a surprise when we arrived at our classroom today and it didn't take long for the children to notice a fallen (with the help of a chain saw) tree laying across our area. Some noticed the bug trails and thought they were drawings, others noticed the fungi growing in places, and others were interested in balancing or climbing on it.
We did decide there were a few branch stubs sticking up and that those needed to be removed to make it safe to play around. We learned the rules for safely using the saw and then everyone that wanted a turn was able to try it out. By the end of the day the stubs were all cut off.
Today was a great day to use our imaginations and play with our classmates. This led to moments of discussion and how we could work out our differences and conversations about our ideas and creations.
The AM bus riders got a surprise--the new little bus is here so they were the first children to ever ride in it.
The PM class was treated to samples of the kindergartners extra baked apples.
We are looking forward to see what next week will bring!
One standard addressed today was:
